Welcome To 250 City Road

The 1.9 hectare (4.7 acre) triangular site at 250 City Road sits opposite the City Road Basin midway between Angel and Old Street Underground Stations.  It is bound by City Road to the north, Macclesfield Road to the west, Dingley Road to the south and the City Reach building to the east. It currently comprises a 1980s low density and under utilised business park arranged around a central parking area.

Berkeley Homes, who are an award winning leader in urban regeneration for delivering high quality and sustainable mixed-use developments in London and the South East, acquired the site in June 2011. Whilst there is an existing planning permission for 250 City Road dating from early 2010, Berkeley employed architects DSDHA for the preliminary stage of the project to explore the potential for an alternative masterplan approach. A public consultation event was held in July 2012 at which DSDHA's initial ideas for the site were discussed. This process helped to establish the key urban design principles for the site and refine the project brief.

For the next stage of the project, DSDHA handed over to world-renowned architects Foster + Partners to develop the detailed design of a new master plan and progress a planning application submission.

The planning application has now been submitted and validated by the London Borough of Islington. The planning application reference number is 2013/1089. The planning application documents can be accessed by clicking on the following link and inserting the number '2013/1089' into the 'Application Number' search box at the top of the page.
